Gites - Courleon, Loire Valley
These 2 beautiful gites in the heart of the Loire Valley offer luxury, self-catering accommodation. The Loire Valley oozes history and boasts fascinating Chateaus, fine food, delicious wine and lush countryside.
The gites are set within 7 acres of land on the edge of the village of Courleon with an impressive tree-lined drive leading up to the 400 year old farmhouse and the two gites.
Within the grounds there are a number of features for you to enjoy. Guests of both gites can enjoy use of the large (12m x 8m), solar-heated, swimming pool. The pool area is well equipped with sun-loungers, garden furniture plus shower and WC. Sports and outdoor activities are well catered for and are all included in the rental price. Available for your use are bicycles, table tennis and darts. There is an authentic petanque (boules) terrain which can be lit for evening tournaments plus there is a large grassed playing field ideal for playing ball games etc. This area also features a fantastic wooden climbing frame, slide, swings and a huge trampoline! The hammock under the shade of the trees makes this the perfect place for parents to keep an eye on their children while they play!
We can arrange a friendly and informal guided visit to a traditional, family-run vineyard where you can sample some of the fantastic appellations from the surrounding area. This is usually especially popular for those who feel their grasp of French is a little rusty as the owner speaks no English!
Courleon is accessible by train from Paris, flights from Stansted to Tours (1 hour from Courleon) and Poitiers (1.5 hours from Courleon), flights from Southend to Caen (3 hours from Courleon). The drive from Calais is 5 hours.
Some of these journeys can be done using the new A28 motorway which opened in December 2005. It joins the A13 motorway south west of Rouen with the A10 motorway at Tours and should significantly shorten journey times from most of the ports. You will need an up to date French road atlas to find it!
