Independent Family Walking Tour - Corsica 

Donkey Trekking through Corsica's Secret Villages 
- 6 days 
A fantastic itinerary awaits you! You will get to discover Corsica’s heritage, culture, local cuisine and forgotten hamlets. A truly wonderful experience set in a beautiful setting, with great accommodation. Friendly donkeys will carry your luggage and entertain the children who will love walking them around. 
Hike suitable for 5 year olds and up. 
Day 1 Arrival in Olmi Cappella 
Once you have arrived, you will get to discover the enchanting little village of Olmi Cappella and settle into your accommodation, which is an ancient Corsican family estate. 
Dinner in a table d’hôte. Night in a family estate in Olmi Cappella. 
Day 2 Old mills and forgotten ancient bridges 
Short transfer to Mausoléo in the morning. Today’s walk will lead you to cross ancient Genovese bridges hidden in the mountains. You will also discover old flour and chestnut mills and have the opportunity to swim in natural pools nearby. Following a path through the undergrowth, you will then walk along beautiful riverbanks in order to reach a wood keeper’s cottage - now used as a gîte - near the Tartagine River. 
You will have dinner and spend the night in a gîte.

Height gain: 285m. 
Height loss: 390m. 
Walking: about 3h30. 
Day 3 Along the Tartagine river 
Today’s delightful hike will lead you to discover ornamental lakes and natural pools around the wild and protected Tartagine River. If you’re lucky, you might see macrostigma trouts, an endangered species of local fish, swimming around. The fresh scent of magnificent Laricio pines will also accompany you, as you walk along the path to the col. There are many idyllic picnic spots and swimming holes to be found in this particular area. After a nice relaxing swim in the river, you will return to your accommodation and have dinner in the gîte in Tartagine. 
Night in the same gîte as the previous day. 
Distance: 10 km maximum. 
Height gain: 470m. 
Height loss: 470m. 
Walking: 4 hours maximum. 
Day 4 Crossing the bridge of Vallica, from the Tartagine to Olmi Cappella 
On the fourth day of the tour, you will follow a path which overlooks the valley of Giussani and its surrounding mountains. The path will lead you to walk across a magnificent Genovese bridge towards the village of Vallica. The village provides an ideal setting for light picnic lunches and relaxing swims in natural pools nearby. You will then enter a forest along a centuries-old mule track which will offer you a picturesque glimpse into the island’s past, before reaching the enchanting village of Olmi Cappella. 
You will have dinner and spend the night in a B&B in Olmi Cappella.

Height gain: 640m. 
Height loss: 590m. 
Walking: about 4h30. 
Day 5 Panoramic path, from Olmi Cappella to Mausoléo 
The last donkey ride of the tour takes place in the valley of Giussani. Today’s trip will take you to mountain trails with stunning views over the lowlands and the delightful hamlet of Forcili. There, you will be able to enjoy magnificent panoramic views over Olmi Cappella. The majestic landscapes of Île Rousse will also unravel before your very eyes, as you reach Bocca alle Porte. Finally, a walk around gentle crests will give you the opportunity to see the lush Tartagine valley from above, before meeting with the donkey drivers at Mausoléo where the children will say their good-byes to their trekking companions. 
You will have dinner and spend the night in a B&B in Olmi Cappella.

Height gain: 650m. 
Height loss: 590m. 
Optional walk to Bocca alle Porte: HG: 120m, HL: 120m. 
Walking: 5 hours. 
Day 6 End of tour 
The tour ends here, after breakfast at the village of Olmi Cappella.
